Cross Country Hosts Daniel Walker Invitational

GRAND ISLAND, NY.—Buffalo State cross country kicked off the 2008 season today, hosting the Daniel Walker Invitational at Beaver Island State Park. Geneseo claimed the title in both the men’s and women’s meets. Buffalo State men and women were each seventh of nine.

Margaret Hughes (Elmira/Elmira Free Academy) paced Buffalo State’s women just as she did in all nine meets last season, placing 12th of 98 with a time of 20:46. Katelyn Clark (Horseheads/Horseheads) was 28th in 21:47.

Leading the Bengals’ men was Bryan Buchanan (Cicero/Cicero-N. Syracuse) who placed 25th of 98 runners in a time of 28:08. Ben Adams (Syracuse/Paul V. Moore) finished close behind in 27th in 28:18.

Buffalo State will next run at Brockport on Sept. 13.

Karen Shaddock
Women's Lacrosse
Shaddock became Buffalo State's first-ever lacrosse All-American, earning third team honors from WomensLacrosse.com, and was named the Division III Rookie of the Year.  The math education shattered the Bengals' single-season scoring record with 123 points in just 18 games.  She led the nation with 74 assists and added 49 goals.  Shaddock also ranked fourth in the nation with 6.8 points-per-game, and was 12th nationally with 83 draw controls.
