SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Buffalo State’s track and field teams competed in the final meet before the NCAA Championships today and posted three provisional qualifying times, as the men placed fifth of 56 teams, while the women were 19th.
Willie Hordge (Buffalo/Forestbrook TX) had a provisional qualifier, placing second in the 100-meter dash (10.66), and was part of another, anchoring the winning 4x100-meter relay team with
Ray Peoples (Buffalo/Cleveland Hill),
Keith Henry (Galveston, TX/Ball) and
Clarke Hinds (Floral Park/Floral Park) to a first place finish (41.47). Henry added a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a provisional time of 21.77 seconds.
Tim Diegelman (Clarence/Clarence) was sixth in the decathlon with a school record score of 6,014 points.
For the women,
Taniqua Hollingsworth (Buffalo/East) was fifth in the 200-meter dash (25.75), and
LaVonne Barfield (Rochester/Wilson Magnet) was sixth in the long jump (5.36m).
The NCAA Championships will be held at Marietta College in Ohio next weekend.
