INDIANOPOLIS, Ind.—The NCAA announced the field for this week’s Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships today, and eight Buffalo State athletes officially learned they will among the 688 participants at the meet at Don Drumm Stadium at Marietta College in Ohio from May 21-23.
Willie Hordge (Buffalo/Forestbrook TX) enters the 100-meter dash with the nation’s seventh-fastest time of 10.61 seconds. Hordge won the 2007 national championship in the event with a time of 10.56 seconds. The trials are Friday at 4:10 p.m., and the final is Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Hordge also anchors the 4x100-meter relay team of
Ray Peoples (Buffalo/Cleveland Hill),
Keith Henry (Galveston, TX/Ball) and
Clarke Hinds (Floral Park/Floral Park) who qualified for the meet with the 12th-best time of 41.45 seconds. The prelims will be Thursday at 3:45 p.m., and the finals will be Saturday at 1 p.m.
The women will also be sending a 4x100-meter relay team of
Latoya Edwards (Brooklyn/Clara Barton),
Taniqua Hollingsworth (Buffalo/East),
Najia McGee (Rochester/Edison Tech) and
Anika Niles (Brooklyn/Samuel J. Tilden) who qualified 14th with a time of 48.21 seconds. Buffalo State was fifth in this race last year with a school-record time of 47.19 seconds. The trials will be Thursday at 4 p.m., and the finals will be Saturday at 1:10 p.m.
