Can you believe we are already into October?
 
The Buffalo State fall sports seasons are in full swing, as teams are getting ready to jump into the heart of conference play this weekend.   
 
Here's everything you need to know about a jam-packed, Bengal weekend.

Women's Soccer
Women's soccer (8-1-2, 3-0-0) is off to the hottest start at Buffalo State this fall (with men's soccer right behind) and looks to stay perfect in SUNYAC play this weekend. 
 
The Bengals have been led on offense by senior forward Melissa Smith.  She has seven goals and three assists in 11 games played this year, and is tied for second in the SUNYAC with 17 points.  Her five game-winning goals are tied for second in the NCAA.
 
Goalkeeper Taylor Carillo has been just as good on the other end of the field, tying a school-record with five-straight shutouts.  Her scoreless streak now sits at 529 minutes and 55 seconds, trailing the school's scoreless-streak record set by Katie Melsert (2006) by just 56 minutes and 37 seconds. 
 
Buffalo State hosts Oswego this afternoon at 3 p.m., with Cortland visiting tomorrow at 1 p.m.  Both games will be played at Coyer Field, where admission is free for all soccer matches.

Men's Soccer
Men's soccer is looking to rebound after a tough, 3-2, loss at Fredonia last Saturday.
 
Even with the minor setback, the Bengals (7-3-1, 2-1-0) are still off to a great start and sit tied for third in the conference entering the weekend.
 
The Buffalo State offense has been led by the duo of Bass Sarr and Tristan Myers.  Sarr is first in the SUNYAC in scoring with nine goals.  He also has two assists for 20 total points, also a SUNYAC-high.  Myers is tied for second in the conference in goals scored with six, including an overtime winner against Geneseo earlier in the season.
 
Keeper William Banahene has been a rock in goal for the Bengals, and sits second in the SUNYAC in save percentage (.837) and shutouts (four) and third in GAA (0.77).

Buffalo State travels to Oswego on Friday to take on the Lakers at 3 p.m.  The Bengals follow it up with a trip to Cortland on Saturday at 1 p.m.

Football
Buffalo State football is looking to rebound as well, as it was unable to hold a fourth-quarter lead, falling 28-24 at nationally-ranked St. John Fisher last Saturday and dropping to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in Empire 8 play.
 
Cortland snapped a two-game losing streak with a 50-47 win at Hartwick last week, improving to 3-2 overall and 1-2  in league play.
 
The Bengals have won four-straight meetings over Cortland, including a 29-21 win last year in Buffalo.

Buffalo State running back Dale Stewart surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark in the first two games this season and currently has 404 yards on 66 carries in four games. Stewart rushed for 132 yards on 22 carries in the opening win over Otterbein, and then piled up 154 yards on 17 carries against Alfred. The Buffalo State single-season record is 1,201 yards by Perez Dinkins in 1996.

On defense, junior linebacker Bart Mazzara leads the Bengals with 45 tackles through four games, including recording a career-best 17 stops against Alfred University.

Volleyball
Buffalo State (5-15, 0-3) heads to Oswego this weekend for SUNYAC pool play at the Lakers' complex.
 
Lauren Hansen leads Buffalo State in kills (171) and points (207).  Meg Brandon and Katherine Marte are the Bengals' top playmakers, recording 216 and 202 assists apiece. 
 
The Bengals take on Fredonia on Friday at 5 p.m.  You can follow along with live stats of that match here.
 
Buffalo State then has two matches on Saturday, the first against the host Lakers at 10 a.m., followed by a matchup with Potsdam at 12:30 p.m.
