Connor Mergler (E. Amherst/Williamsville North) captured the conference title in the 50 free for the third-consecutive year, and
Dan Kuznetsov (Williamsville/Williamsville South) set a school record in the 500 free as Buffalo State wrapped up the first full day at the SUNYAC Championships tonight at the Flickinger Aquatic Center.

NOTABLES
- Mergler, a junior, touched first in the 50 free for the third time in three years, posting a winning NCAA B-cut time of 20.47 seconds.
- Kuznetsov, a freshman, finished fifth in the 500 free with a school-record time of 4:45.05.
- Mergler also teamed up with Cody Wittmeyer (Boston/Hamburg), Kyle Callan (Henrietta/Rush-Henrietta) and Ryan McHale (Lancaster/Lancaster) to place fourth in the 200 free relay (1:25.98).
- Mergler and Kuznetsov also joined Jake Brigham (Binghamton/Binghamton) and Tom DePasquale (Tonawanda/Kenmore West) to set a school record with the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:34.16, placing sixth. Mergler's leadoff leg also set a school record in the 100 back (51.99).
- Justin Moser (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) finished 12th last night in the 1-meter dive (400.90 points).
- Wittmeyer also scored in the 50 free, placing 15th (22.26).
- Kelly Lindner (W. Seneca/W. Seneca West) scored the lone individual points on the Bengals' women's docket, finishing 12th in the 3-meter dive (332.50).
