BUFFALO, NY—
Marissa McMullan (Haileybury, ON/Chingaucousy) tallied two goals and two assists and Buffalo State (6-6) raced to a 7-1 victory to complete the weekend sweep of visiting Plymouth State (0-9-1) in a non-conference battle today at the Ice Arena.
Bri Murphy (Depew/Lancaster) also scored twice for the Bengals, and
Lauren Mallo (Maple Ridge, BC/Thomas Haney) had a goal and two assists to bolster the Bengals attack.
Kailyn Murray (Medicine Hat, AB/Warner Hockey School) and
Courtney Carnes (Winslow, ME/Winslow) chipped in a goal apiece, and Courtney Orner (Peoria, AZ/Peoria) and
Nicole Laurel (El Monte, CA/Arroyo) both had a pair of assists.
Bri Davis scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season to account for all of the Panthers' offense.
The Bengals dominated play from the opening faceoff, outshooting Plymouth 11-0 in the opening period and 42-6 for the game. After taking a 4-1 lead into the final period, Buffalo State blew the game open with three goals in a span of 2:17 early in the final frame.
Buffalo State was 3 for 6 on the power play, while Plymouth went 1 for 3 with the extra attacker. All three Bengal goaltenders saw time between the pipes.
Buffalo State will break for the holidays and return to action at the Castleton (Vt.) Tournament on Jan. 7 and 8.
