Dr. Gail F. Maloney, one of the pioneers of women's athletics at the college, will lead a class of seven into the Buffalo State Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, Sept. 25 as an honorary member.

Derek Baker (Football, '00), Josh Becker (Basketball, '04), Mary Keddie (Hockey, '04), Stephanie Menth (Softball, '03), Paul Meyer (Soccer, '70), and James Oubre (Diving, '75) will join Maloney in the class of 2010 in the regular membership category.

Maloney is best remembered as Buffalo State's women's basketball coach for 21 seasons from 1978 to 2000, leading her teams to a record of 374-154 (.708), while winning seven SUNYAC Championships and making nine trips to the NCAA Playoffs. She also guided Buffalo State to an appearance in the EAIAW East Regional in 1981. Among her accolades are SUNYAC Coach of the Year honors in 1984, 1989 and 1994. Following the 1994 season, Maloney was also named Coach of the Year by the Converse Division III, District II and the New York State Women's Collegiate Athletic Association.

She also excelled in administrative roles with the Intercollegiate Athletics Department, including serving as interim director. Assuming the position as Senior Associate Director of Athletics in 2001, she began administering student services, focusing on advancing the welfare of all student-athletes. She then added business management responsibilities, improving accounting and budgetary procedures.

Baker is the owner of six Buffalo State football receiving records, including career receptions (148), yards (3,359) and touchdowns (26). He had over 1,000 receiving yards in both his junior and senior seasons, and helped led the Bengals to two NCAA playoff appearances and a pair of ECAC Bowl Championships. A two-time Don Hansen's Gazette first team All-Region selection, he was tabbed as an All-American as a senior by both D3football.com and USAFootball.com. He was also honored as the MVP of the 2000 ECAC Northwest Championships game after catching seven passes for 142 yards and three touchdowns in a 43-20 win over Hartwick.

Becker played three seasons with the men's basketball program after transferring from Mercyhurst College as a scholarship volleyball player. Becker led the Bengals to a SUNYAC Championship and an NCAA Playoff appearance as a junior when he was named second team All-Region, first team All-SUNYAC, and the MVP of the SUNYAC Tournament. Despite playing just three years, Becker ranks 10th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,202 career points (15.8 points-per-game), and piled up 466 rebounds, 147 steals and 143 assists in 76 career games. He was recognized as the school's male athlete of the year in 2003 and won the Hube Coyer Award for career accomplishments the following year.

Keddie will become the first women's hockey player inducted into the hall. A dominant goalie from 2000-04 during the program's infancy, she helped establish credibility for Buffalo State women's hockey. A two-time ECAC West Goalie of the Year, Keddie claimed the league's top honor as Player of the Year in 2003. She still holds several Buffalo State career goaltending records, including save percentage (.922), saves (2,665), wins (17), and shutouts (8). She garnered the school's female athlete of the year in 2003 and won the Ruth Houston Award for career accomplishments the next year.

Menth was a four-time All-SUNYAC softball player. The left fielder helped the Bengals to a SUNYAC Championship as a freshman and claimed second team All-Region honors after hitting .383 with eight doubles. Menth scored the only run of the championship game, a 1-0 win over Cortland. She finished her career with a .356 batting average, nine triples, seven homers, 66 RBIs and 23 stolen bases. Menth also ranks third in school history with 35 doubles.

Meyer played three seasons over varsity soccer from 1966-68, helping the team to a record of 27-9-2 during that stretch. After leading the team in assists during his first season on varsity, he was converted into a fullback in 1967, and anchored a team that went 12-1-1, claimed a SUNYAC title, and defeated FDU before falling 2-1 to Navy in the NCAA Playoffs. A two-year team captain and All-SUNYAC selection, Meyer was honored as the Hube Coyer Award winner for career accomplishments in 1969.

Oubre qualified for the NCAA Championships as a diver all four seasons as a Bengal. He set school records on both the one and three-meter boards and claimed both State and SUNYAC titles in each event. His career was highlighted by All-America honors on the one-meter board in 1972.
