UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa.— Kevin Carr (Unionville, ON/Unionville) finished with 45 saves, but Buffalo State (2-2-1) couldn't duplicate its season-opening performance over Penn State (5-2), as the Bengals dropped a 4-2 decision tonight at Greenburg Ice Pavilion.

Matt Bessing (Elma, NY/Cheektowaga) and Mike Zannella (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) scored for Buffalo State.  Drew Klin (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster), Brett Hope (Blenheim, ON/Blenheim) and Nick Melligan (Sanborn, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) each had an assist.

Buffalo State took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period on the power play, but Penn State responded with its first of the game just under six minutes later.  The Nittany Lions scored a pair of goals in the second to take a 3-1 lead into intermission.  The Bengals closed to within one with an even-strength goal just 3:15 into the final stanza, but Penn State put the game out of reach with its fourth of the game at 16:36.

Penn State outshot Buffalo State, 49-25, and both teams were 1 for 6 with the man advantage. 

Buffalo State will return to SUNYAC play when it travels to Plattsburgh on Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
