Buffalo State remembers Athletics Hall of Famer Meyers

Buffalo State athletics is remembering former student-athlete and long-time staff member Howard Meyers, Jr., who was inducted into the Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991, after he passed away on Sept. 12 at the age of 85.

Meyers lettered in four sports during his time at Buffalo State, including earning All-New York State honors as a soccer goalkeeper.  He played on the college's first modern-day baseball team and also lettered in basketball and baseball.

After earning his bachelor's degree in industrial arts in 1958, Meyers taught at Niagara Wheatfield for six years before returning to Buffalo State as a physical education instructor in 1964 to begin a lengthy career at the college.

Meyers became the college's first full-time athletic trainer, first sports information director and first business manager for athletics before retiring in 1990.
